The L.A. Tourist is a self supported self navigated race. Based out of Burbank, CA the race departs at the break of dawn and sends you out into the world in search of a few GPS locations.
Your job is to make your own map and navigate yourself to each point. In your travels you may encounter normal city traffic, fire roads, down trees, Sasquatch, single track, river crossings and much more.
The L.A. Tourist Race seems more akin to folklore and myth than an actual event.
A self supported and self navigating race, we will provide a default route if you prefer but you will be opting into the hardest route with the most climbing and miles.
We place checkpoints that racers must find with GPS coordinates, once they get to the location they must tear a page from book that matches their plate number.
Failure to get the correct page, miss a check point, losing a page, stashing aid, will results in an automatic disqualification.
Some will categorize L.A. Tourist series as a gravel race, others will categorize it as a mountain bike race but in reality you get the best of everything. A little bit of road riding, gravel roads and mountain bike descents.

Not necessarily, but it will definitely make it way easier. We highly recommend folks to use some GPS system that works offline. A lot of our race will take you into the forest and connection is very scarce.
Google Maps allows offline map use, just remember to download it before hand. You can also mark your map with each coordinate.
Paid Versions of Strava & Ride with GPS allows you to use offline routes / maps.
Only if space is available. Make sure you come in early to pay, sign the waiver and receive your number.
The L.A. Tourist race starts at it's bike shop Lets Ride Cyclery in Burbank.
1038 N. Hollywood way Burbank, CA, 91505
Unfortunately no, our shop parking is very small so racers will have to find parking on neighboring streets.
This is an adventure race so there isn't a "perfect bike" for this bike race. When you start creating your routes you can choose how much road or dirt you want to take on. In the end, the main point is to get to the designated checkpoints.
All registration sales are final. No refunds, thank you for your understanding.
If it's within the 3 series and same year we can swap you over but we can not transfer to the following year or change it to the GD or TSG.
Each race has category registration limitation. Don't wait until the last minute to register we do not make an exceptions.
Each racer will receive coordinates and will have to create their own map. The racer must find all checkpoint books and match their race plate with their page. A racer will get disqualified for missing a page or having the incorrect page number.
